It seems like anytime I am out at the bars recently, I see emo boys surrounded by girls of all types. Being a fan of emo style myself, I completely understand the appeal of people who dress emo.

The emo style takes time and effort, and above all, an innate understanding of what looks good and what does not. Emo kids understand how to dress themselves that not only look good, but express their personality as well. This is in stark contrast to guys who dress preppy. The preppy style does not express much about the wearer other than a strong preference for conformity. Emo boys attract more girls simply because their clothes reflect a part of their personality more so than others.

The Emergence of Emo Boys

For years, punk rockers dominated the trendy music scene with their spiked hair, grungy look, and crazy jewelry. They exploded onto the scene in the seventies and kept their place at the top of the hip rock and roll scene until very recently.

Today, it is emo boys who are leading fashion trends in both the music world and in the area of high fashion. Increasingly, we are seeing make up on male models along with tight jeans and spiky, well manicured hair. The music scene has seen emo make an even bigger impact, with many of the headlining bands at this years warped tour being emo bands with an attitude. Emo is here to stay and its presence as a force in the music economy is one to be reckoned with.
